The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects. They are allegedly linked to the robbery and murder of two mobile money vendors in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects are Charles Kwame Danso, 23, also known as Kwame Charles or Miami. Another suspect is Phillip Fordjour, 29. Addae Mensah, 42, is also among the suspects. Lastly, there is Martin Amoah, also known as Baba Macho.
They were arrested on March 21, 2025, at Pankrono and Atimatim, suburbs of the Asanti Regional capital, Kumasi, respectively.
The suspects are currently in Police custody. They will soon be sent to court to face the full rigours of the law.
The police said efforts were underway to locate the fourth suspect. His names are Martin Amoah or Augustine Amoah, aka Baba Macho. He is believed to be hiding in Kumasi, Diaso near Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Central Region or Accra.
Press conference
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, spoke at a hurriedly arranged press conference in Kumasi last Tuesday. He appealed to the general public to assist in the search for Baba Macho.
“If you have any information about his whereabouts, please contact the Police. Use the Toll-Free number 191,112 (18555 MTN and Telecel),” he pleaded.
“The Ashanti Regional Police Command remains committed to ensuring Justice is served. It urges the public to stay vigilant. This will help bring all responsible individuals to Justice,” he noted.
Background
The first incident occurred on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Krofrom around noon. During this incident, the victim, Patricia Nimako, tragically lost her life. She lost her life alongside a sum of money.
The second incident also occurred on the night of Monday, March 10, 2025. The victim, Gideon Owusu Sarpong, also known as Junior, was robbed and murdered at his residence at Kwadaso.
