The government plans to start re-construction soon. The stalled Anlo Afiadenyigba to Havedzi road in the Volta region will be addressed in the coming weeks.
This follows the allocation of over 2.4 billion cedis to the roads ministry.
The deplorable road has caused the death of a minor in recent times. This has attracted little effort from state authorities in recent past.
“We have gone there. The engineers and everybody have resolved to re-assess. We are going to deploy a contractor to complete that section through the Lagoon all the way,” he said.
The 10.3 km of road was awarded in 2013 under the erstwhile NDC administration but construction stalled after 2016. The Contractor reached over 70 per cent of construction but the contract was terminated under NPP administatrion without being re-awarded.
Residents and drivers lament severe hardship under the NPP over the failure to have the road completed.
The Roads Minister assured that the government has given attention to the plight of the people.
