‘I’m disappointed’ – Mzbel laments being snubbed over Mahama appointments

Singer, Mzbel has expressed disappointment. She has not been offered any appointment yet by the government. This is despite her arduous efforts for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win power.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Tuesday, March 4, she disclosed that she is likely to decline any appointment. She wants to protect her peace and reputation from public scrutiny. Mzbel made sacrifices that helped the NDC achieve power. Therefore, she says she would have felt honored. She would have felt valued if the appointing authority had approached her.

“The truth is that I will turn down an offer of appointment. Even if the President calls, I want peace of mind. I don’t want anyone to equate my success to politics because I work very hard.”

“For instance, should I travel for even my own show, they will say ‘she is travelling with taxpayers’ money. Politics has made her and this and that.”

“However, I’m disappointed that some of my colleagues have been given appointments while I’ve not even been called. I’ve really been bullied, insulted, and even threatened because of NDC. It’s disappointing that with the party in power now, Mzbel has been forgotten. No one has bothered to even get in touch with me,” she lamented.

“Anyway, I don’t even know how these appointments are being done. Maybe, people submit their resumes. They could also make calls to some influential people to lobby for them. At least, a call to make an offer wouldn’t be bad,” she added.

In the last years, the singer has been vociferous about her affiliation with the ruling NDC. She has campaigned for the party during elections.

She has been actively involved in activities to seek power for the NDC. This includes a group she led, celebrities for Mahama, to campaign and canvass for votes for the party.

The party is in power. Mzbel disclosed to Graphic Showbiz that pressure has been mounting on her. She needs to lobby for jobs and appointments for members of the group.

However, she revealed that she is currently in a difficult situation. The few prominent party leaders she was in contact with have distanced themselves. They have also stopped returning her calls.

Additionally, she cannot meet them. They are absent from the locations where she has previously encountered them.
