By The Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice is Dr. Justice Srem-Sai. He has confirmed a search at the private residence of the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana. This was part of ongoing investigations into the alleged misappropriation of state assets.
Dr Srem-Sai spoke in an interview on JoyNews on Thursday, March 20, 2025. He stated that the operation took place on Wednesday. It was carried out legally with a valid warrant.
“We take full responsibility for these searches,” he said. “I can confirm they were conducted in accordance with legal procedures.”
The operation has stirred public debate, with some questioning the government’s approach.
While some critics argue that the Attorney-General’s office is acting too aggressively, others believe it is not moving swiftly enough.
Dr Srem-Sai defended the government’s actions, stating that investigations are being conducted thoroughly to prevent wrongful prosecutions.
“We will not take anyone to court and then ask for time to gather evidence. We will only prosecute when we have sufficient evidence,” he stressed.
He further explained that the search at the former central bank governor’s home is part of a wider anti-corruption effort. The Attorney-General’s office is working with other state institutions to recover state funds and assets.
